I want to buy a compound bow for target shooting and possibly hunting?

I know nothing when it comes to compound bow value,brands,or or what to look for and I don't really have any friends with this knowledge. I have shot one a few times but thats about it. The only brands I have been told are good are Bear and Hoyte but on craigslist I have found a buch of people selling PSE and Mathews. are those good brands? what is a good used price ranges for these brands? can I get a good used bow for less that $200?
