Why doesn't he text back?

Okay so me and a very close guy friend got into a fight about 3 yrs. ago and we just started tlking again last week and he said we're friends again and he said some really nice things about me 2 a girl that likes him... but i think he just said that to make her jelous cus he's that type of guy... and before we stopped talking I was so in love with him and i never felt that way about anyone before. I missed him so much and all I want him to do is talk to me so I cam show him how much I care nd how much i missed him and how many things we might have in common, but when ever we txt he doesn't reply after like the first 2 or 3 txts... And I'm not gunna call cos that would be awkward. And he won't accept my request in facebook
